Introduction to B/W Photography, ARTS 261
This is my first time teaching an introductory course to film-based photography. The students seem to respond well to the tactile media, and feel a sense of empowerment behind the SLR camera. I call this course the "shop class" of the University system. Silver process is definitely not dead!

Introduction to Digital Photography, ARTS 361
This course is designed for photography majors already versed in critique and visual literacy, but who are just entering the digital realm of image-based media. Students learn practical digital workflow, from import to output. Projects are mostly, but not limited to film-based photography, which allows for scanning, image correction, and workflow demos. Concept, Performance, and Contemporary Photography, ARTS-564
This prospective course uses the still and moving image to document concept-driven work in performance, sculpture, and staged scenes. An emphasis will be placed on concepts generated from in-class lectures on photographic/artistic genres, and artists work. Students will partake in theoretical readings, and write/speak about their ideas before execution. One of the main goals of this course is to create a well-rounded, studio artist, capable of developing a body of work around a selected theme.
