Photography Survey
East Carolina University

This course starts with tactile, wet-process media like (paint can) pinhole cameras, and moves into scanning and digital imaging, with an emphasis on visual literacy. Spring 2010 will be my third semester teaching Photography Survey, and the second semester for integrating BlackBoard into the course. Thanks to Patrick Keough for turning me on to this great tool, I'm now able to utilize the web as a source for discussions, projects and information. Students can upload their work directly to the discussion board and we're able to critique a piece on the fly. Couldn't be more excited about online education!

I'm currently working with the Distance Education and Photography department at ECU to help establish a core-course in distance education Photography Survey using Blackboard. The course is scheduled for the Fall 2010 semester and will enlist 75 students or more.
