I set up an installation in the foyer of East Carolina University School of Art and Design on April 15th 2009 for 24 hours. The setting was staged like a SuddenLink (local internet company) advertisement: a glass table resting on two stacks of books, a computer, speakers, and misc papers.
For the performance, participants were instructed to call a Skype phone number and asked how they felt about public art. I received calls from 11:30am-12:00pm, but the installation lasted for 24 hrs, and callers would leave messages on Skype voicemail.
Participants were asked:
1. How do you feel about public art?
2. How do you feel about being a participant in public art?
Extra publicity was given to the installation/performance by the Anti Public Art League (APAL). They attacked me with Cool Whip pies during the time I was receiving calls, listen to the phone call samples for documented audio on the event
